School

So I changed my major yesterday! I am now an Elementary Education major. I have been thinking about doing this since January, but I was pretty set on on Social Work with the thoughts of eventually doing social law. Being the complete hard head that I am thought it would be best to take the Intro to social work class and see if I really loved it as much as I thought! This is a class you normally aren't allowed to take until your Jr year so that is why I hadn't taken it already. Well as it turns out the whole class I was like convicted about whether or not I would be able to do what social workers are required to do. First of all the Social Work profession is extremely liberal in it's views as far as social policy goes, but not only that it's pretty strict on being non biased and you can't bring personal views or beliefs into the job. Well that's pretty hard for me! How am I going to work everyday with hurting people and not be like YOU NEED JESUS!!! lol so needless to say I was praying about it and the pros of teaching far beat the pros of social work and yes even eventually becoming a lawyer! I really felt like I would sacrifice too much as far as ministry is concerned and I'm not willing to do that! The bible does say seek ye first the kingdom, not seek ye first a law degree! haha :-) The only gigantic negative is almost none of the classes I have already taken will go toward my new major. I am starting over 100% I could have cried my eyes out when my advisor was telling me all this! I have to take 18 credit hours for the next 3 semesters and 3 summer school classes just to be able to transfer to Mississippi State from Meridian Community College beacause our MSU campus is only a JR/SR college. That really bites excuse my french! But I can do it...hopefully! I am excited to get back to school though! I love school!
